The Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals (CAAMP) is the national association that represents Canada's mortgage industry.
Founded in 1994, CAAMP is comprised of members from all parts of the mortgage industry including lenders, brokers, insurers and other industry professionals. As the largest association to represent the mortgage industry in Canada, CAAMP actively works as the voice of the industry to government, media, and legislators. CAAMP’s objective is to see the Canadian mortgage industry evolve to include full professional status that is supported by the highest standards of professional service.
In 2004, CAAMP established the Accredited Mortgage Professional (AMP) designation as part of its on-going commitment to increasing the level of professionalism in the industry. The AMP designation sets a single national proficiency standard for Canada’s mortgage professionals and further details can be found on the CAAMP website.
CAAMP currently has over 11,500 members in all ten provinces and is one of the fastest-growing industry or professional associations in Canada with membership having increased by 60 per cent from 2003 to 2005. The association’s membership is comprised of 1,400 companies across Canada.
To ensure that its members reflect the high standards that it espouses, CAAMP actively promotes professional development to its members and holds regional and national events across Canada. In addition to the host of benefits that a CAAMP membership offers, association members benefit from networking within the largest association representing the industry and gain credibility as a member of an association whose members are bound by professional standards that include CAAMP’s Code of Ethics.
As an organization that values professional integrity and advancement, CAAMP ensures that its members conduct their activities with honesty, integrity, and professionalism and that their personnel are knowledgeable in the areas of the industry in which they participate.
In addition, members are required to act in compliance with CAAMPS’s Code of Ethics which states that members conduct sound business practices, which include association “Best Practices” or professional standards as established from time to time by the Board of Directors.
