The Canadian Decorators’ Association (CDECA) is a professional non-profit association that represents students and accredited interior decorators and interior designers as well as affiliated businesses across Canada.
The Association’s goal is to foster the growth of the decorating industry in Canada, provide advocacy on policy matters, promote a positive image of the industry, and offer members the opportunity to upgrade their skills and knowledge.
CDECA is committed to enhancing the quality of the decorating industry through providing its members with professional development courses and networking opportunities.
Open to individuals involved in the decorating/design industries, CDECA members must be graduates of recognized institutions and/or display the portfolio requirements for entry. Those who qualify have access to a variety of benefits that include training and professional development, national advertising, group business insurance rates, fuel benefits program, home show participation, as well as referrals to industry professionals and media opportunities.
CDECA actively encourages best practices through its ‘Vision and Values’, a set of principles that outline how the Association works with its members to uphold the integrity of the industry and its professionals. CDECA promotes ethical service through government compliance and qualification standards, communicates the values of relationships with clients and other industry professionals, and encourages cooperation and respect as well as a commitment to community service. Members must abide by CDECA’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
CDECA is a professional association and not a governing body; as such, all matters related to contracts and fees are considered to be strictly between the decorator and client.
