Landscape Ontario Horticultural Trades Association is an association that serves over 2000 member companies across the province who are involved in all sectors of the industry. Members range from grounds management and landscape contractors to lawn care professionals, retail garden centres, nurseries, irrigation contractors, landscape designers, and interiorscape professionals.
It is the Association’s mandate to be the leader in representing, promoting, and fostering a favourable environment to advance the horticultural industry in Canada. In addition to representing the needs of the industry, the Association also actively engages in professional development and offers National Certification Testing, safety training, and over 80 professional development seminars.
With a provincial board of governors to oversee the affairs of the Association, Landscape Ontario has continued its founding vision to find strength in numbers and has become one of the largest and most active trade associations in North America.
Landscape Ontario members benefit from not only the Association’s voice in the industry, but also marketing and awareness programs, promotional and networking opportunities as well as educational and professional development assistance. Members also qualify for cost-savings benefits that can help with transportation, phone, customs brokerage, and business form costs.
Landscape Ontario also actively maintains various chapters throughout the province and is able to serve the needs of each sector within the industry through a ‘Commodity Group System’ where commodity boards, comprised of professionals in each sector, work together to assess trends that affect the business environment.
The Association has an extensive code of ethics and code of conduct to guide members on general principles of conduct on landscape care and maintenance. Members are expected to serve clients with integrity, knowledge, and creative ability as well as maintain confidence and trust in the organization.
Through the codes, members are to perform services and provide goods according to accepted industry standards and the Canadian Nursery Landscape Association Specifications. Finally, members are to uphold the integrity of the industry and are encouraged to strive for the continually betterment of the industry as a whole.
