Formed in 1965 as a self-governing body, The Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (SASTT) (originally The Society of Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Saskatchewan (SETTS)) consists of industry professionals who have the necessary academic and practical training to practice in the Province and throughout Canada where properly licensed. The Association’s purpose is to: protect the public through industry regulation of professional conduct of Applied Science Technologists, and Certified Technicians; to encourage members to increase their knowledge and skills; and foster public understanding of the industry and professionals.
SASTT regulates the use of the professional seal through its Regulatory Bylaws. Members in good standing with the Association, who have accumulated a minimum 3 years’ technical experience in their respective discipline of academic training, may apply to the Registration Board for a professional seal.
All Association members must abide by a stringent Code of Ethics, and The Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians Act and Bylaws, and are subject to disciplinary procedures. The Code of Ethics outlines acceptable standards of practice for professionals in their relationships with the public, employers, and clients as well as fellow industry professionals and focuses on the importance of health and safety, honesty, integrity, and fairness.
