Formed in 1998, the Canadian Association of Property and Home Inspectors Manitoba (CAHPI Manitoba) is the oldest and most respected organization that represents home inspectors in the province. CAHPI Manitoba’s mission is to promote the professional home inspection industry, protect the public through the pre-purchase inspection industry’s service, and provide ongoing continuing education opportunities to industry professionals and to the community.
CAHPI Manitoba actively works to uphold the integrity of the home inspection industry. Through its website, consumers and professionals can gain valuable information on home inspections and inspectors.
In addition, the Association provides for consumers a complaints process and upholds a formal process to deal with issues consumers may have with Association members. CAHPI Manitoba ensures that all members pass a thorough exam process prior to achieving Associate member status and at least 250 pre-purchase home inspections that conform to its Standards of Practice before they are eligible for Registered Home Inspector Status.
To further enhance industry standards, all members must carry Errors and Omissions Insurance and keep up-to-date on industry developments through regular training and seminars. CAHPI Manitoba, along with other provincial chapters and CAHPI National, is working to implement and promote a new standardized National Certification Program available to all home inspectors in Canada as a means to add even more credibility and integrity to the home inspection industry.
The Association’s Standards of Practice are the most recognized set of guidelines for performance in the home inspection industry. These Standards help buyers to make a sound purchase that is based on valuable and objective information. In addition, the Association’s Code of Ethics espouses principles that are based on honesty, justice, and courtesy that guide Member conduct.
