Favourite Chairs
ARTICLE HIGHLIGHTS:
Steer clear of mass-produced looks and take a whimsical seat.
Favourite places to sit:
- Who wouldn't love the En Point Chair, a repro of the chair created by French interior designer Madeleine Castaing, part of her legendary shop in Paris' 7th arrondissement on Rue Jacob. Ballerina legs and blue ribbons at the knees make this quirky, quirky fun. From the folks at Wisteria.
- Patricia Urquiola's fab Fjord Relax Armchair from Moroso Spa is an industrial triumph.
- We have fallen deeply in love with the Tie Chairs, crafted by Alabama Chanin. They are recycled ladderback chairs dating from the 1920s to the 1970s and they've woven funky ties to the seats and added carved sayings on the backs. Each chair is unique, and we can't resist. It's nice to see products that shun mass-produced looks.
- Julian Chichester's mod take on the 19th century Library Chair is available in both polished fruitwood and drama-queen silverleaf finish.
- We love the Hanna chair from Oly. Ole!
- The Thomas Pheasant Collection for Baker Furniture has stylish, Greek-inspired pieces, like the comfy, tailored, tufted Moderne Wing Chair.
- This Suzan Fellman slipper chair design is fantastic. The Bespoke Silk Scarf Chair is made with vintage designer scarves, and it's a great way to add individuality and craftsmanship to your home. Bespoke is one of the best European design houses, and this chair is smashing. The lucite legs are divine.
- Daniel Michalik loves using environmentally-friendly cork to come up with amazing furniture and accessory designs.
Inspired by the popularity of YouTube and videos on the internet, Irwin Weiner and Jay Johnson created Design2Share in November 2006, an online podcast of advice and inspiration on homes, gardens, and architecture.
